First Looks! In The Studio July 2, 2019

Here are a few photographs from last week’s work. We started by exploring characters in separate dimensions with a central figure able to impact their surrounding environments. Alternatively, they represent the central character’s struggle with balancing conflicting ideals and emotions. Later we moved into exploring how two characters locked in separate dimensions could engage one another.

All images were created on set, no digital manipulation required.

First Looks! In The Studio June 25, 2019

Here are a few photographs from Tuesday’s work. You can think about these narratives in many ways. One way is to see them as all parts of one person’s conscious and unconscious mind. The characters in them representing either archetypes or emotions ranging from desire to self-doubt.

The nature of consciousness has always been one of my muses. I remember as kid no older than 7 or 8 using a mirror to look into the pupils of my eyes and wondering if I could see myself. My curiosity surrounding that muse has a lot to do with creating and exploring these fractured worlds for the last few months.

All images were created on set, no digital manipulation required.

First Looks are my initial reactions. It usually takes days or weeks before I’m comfortable deciding if something makes the cut. Editing, selecting which pieces make it and which ones don’t, is one of the most difficult parts of the process. The images you see here are either ones that might be finished or inspire ideas worth pursuing.

Here a few photographs from Tuesday’s work. This was a day of experimentation.  Exploring new ways of portraying characters in the fractured worlds we’ve been working in lately.  Most of characters appear as the subtlest of forms. Time will tell if they make an appearance in future works. Created on set, no digital manipulation required.
